Arlington Texas Noetic Science Group - Frequently Asked Questions
|
Q: What is "Noetic Science"? A: There is a brief description on our main page, or if you'd like a broader and more detailed explanation, here is the explanation given by the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Q: Is the Arlington Texas Noetic Science Group affiliated with the Institute of Noetic Sciences? A: We are considered a community group of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. In their words, that means we are a "dynamic collection of people dedicated to exploring a wide range of noetic topics toward a personal and collective shift in consciousness through conversations that matter!" We are, though, legally and financially separate from the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Q: Can I just show up? Do I have to register or pre-register? A: You can just show up! There is no preregistration before any meeting and no registration at the meeting. Once at the meeting, though, you'll be given an opportunity to sign-up for our email list if you would like to. Q: How much does it cost? A: There is no fee to attend. Donations to help us defray our operating expenses can be left in a donation can by the door and would be greatly appreciated. Q: Where do you get your speakers? A: Wherever we can! More seriously, some speakers are referred to us by members, and some speakers we search out because some of our membership is interested in a specific topic. If you know someone who would be a good speaker, or if you would like to present, please contact us. Q: How are speakers compensated? A: With an attentive audience, thought-provoking questions, potential networking, camaraderie, and gratitude. As a non-profit organization, we do not pay our speakers. If a speaker has a book or other product or material relevant to their talk, they often bring copies for sale. Q: What happened to the meetup.com page? A: The organizers thought a stand-alone website might be more accessible to individuals who might be interested in our program but wouldn't think to look on meetup.com. Our meetup.com page has been discontinued. |
